Dora Maar on Centaur 1

Having completed the 2D/3D Centaur form, Ray Purdey challenged me to ‘put an image on to the Centaur form’.
This drawing translates Picasso’s painting "Portrait of Dora Maar Seated" (1937) onto the form of The Centaur.
This first drawing, completed almost one year after the previous sculpture, places the forms and colours of Picasso’s Dora Maar onto The Centaur form in the same way they are used in Picasso’s painting. For example, the imagery of Dora Maar that resembles a hand is used on the ‘pointed arm’ of The Centaur. Likewise, the Dora Maar ‘face’ is placed on the ‘head’ of The Centaur.
