Links are the glue that holds the internet together. They are also the key element that provides interactivty for the user.
It we go back to the word ‘internet’ - it means ‘between networks’. The key word is ‘between’ and the key to this on the internet is linking. Essentially a link is an opprtunity for the web surfer to interact and say ‘I’m going over here’. This can mean clicking on either text elements or images that take you somewhere else within the current site or elsewhere.
