hyperlinks
When you read a newspaper of a book, the text is printed firmly onto the surface of the page. Its not going anywhere and clicking on it with your finger makes no difference. We could say book text is passive, to be read by the eyes only.
In contrast, on a computer screen, depending upon the scripting and programming in the background, you may be able to touch the screen or click with a mouse to activate the text. Linked text in this way is called hypertext. It is all part of being interactive and putting you in the drivers seat. (hypertext links in this package of information are light blue and underlined, eg. interactive examples)
