A classic example of standardization is ‘time’. Whilst most of relate to the clock as gospel, we often forget that time, as in our 24 hour clock is a manmade structure. Time in this context was standardized to enable people to co-ordinate actions between each other.
Creating ‘personalized’ time does not mean making up your own system of telling time, rather it is a recognition that we operate in our ‘own time’ and it is important to have some ‘time to yourself’.
