It breaks the current 24 hour clock into 1000 beats and was established to cater for a global market and eliminate geographical time zones – perfect for the Internet. The international headquarters of Swatch is located in Biel, Switzerland and thus the Biel Meridian Time (BMT) where the time system is set. At midnight in Biel, internet time is @000.
