Centaur Woman (Painting #8)
Acrylic Paint on Canvas, October 2002, 75cm x 60cm
Centaur Woman (Painting #8)
In 1955, Pablo Picasso did several paintings titled Great Reclining Nude. In 'Centaur Woman' (Painting #8), the Picasso form of Great Reclining Nude with Crossed Arms (1955) has been married with the 3D Centaur form used in Pablo and Jacqueline (Painting #7). In contrast to putting Pablo Picasso onto The Centaur in the previous painting, The Centaur form is placed across the female form and placed on a similar platform as in Picassos painting. The result is a gestalt of forms. The viewer can pick out either The Centaur form or the woman and then flick back and forth between the two. It would be interesting to see how this could be created in 3D.
